KENNETH
J. SCHELBERG
Ken has specialized
in the fields of real estate and corporate law in the State of California
since 1986. From 1986 through 1989, he practiced with the Century City office
of the national law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. From 1989 through
1990, Ken was associated with the law firm of Fried, King, Holmes &
August, a boutique real estate and corporate transactional firm, also located
in Century City, California. In November of 1990 he joined the law firm
of Fleischman & Rigdon, where his practice principally involved representation
of sophisticated real estate and corporate investors. In April of 1992,
Ken formed the law firm of Fleischman & Schelberg with William Fleischman.
In May of 1997, Ken formed the law firm of Schelberg & Ross LLP with
his current partner, Jim Ross.
Presently,
Ken's practice focuses principally on the representation of real estate
professionals in the acquisition, disposition, development and management
of their commercial real estate interests. His practice typically involves
representation of landlords and tenants, sellers and purchasers, borrowers
and lenders, brokers, property management, escrow and title companies,
developers, co-venturers and investors. In the past two years, Ken has
successfully negotiated, documented, and closed numerous significant transactions,
having a value in excess of $100,000,000.
The other
significant portion of Ken's practice involves the representation of non-real
estate related commercial interests, most particularly, internet merchants,
ISP's (internet service providers), credit card transaction processors
and internet content providers. A strong corporate background and deep
interest in technology and related issues has helped Ken develop this
portion of his practice.
Ken graduated from Brooklyn College in 1972 with a BA in Spanish. Ken
attended and received a Juris Doctor degree from Emory Law School, in
Atlanta where he served as Research Editor for the Emory Law Journal.
Ken is a
member of the State Bar of California in both the Real Property and Business
Law Sections, a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and has served
as a Special Master for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. Ken
is married to Sheryl, and counts his greatest achievements as his two
boys, Dylan, 7, and Joshua, 3. |
